A happy moment

I've just realised that it is week 18 of 52 weeks of happy.  I've lost a few weeks but wanted to share one happy moment I had the first week I was home.  While doing some laundry in the outside laundry room, I happened to look up and through a gap in the wall saw Hector the cat sunning himself on the seat.  If you look very closely you can see him.  In amongst the sadness and grief of that week, this was one beautiful moment that made me smile.

Taken on my phone.

Have a lovely week everyone.

:: 52 weeks of happy, 16/52 ::

I'm doing this post early as I'm heading off to Western Australia for two and a half weeks on Sunday to stay with my Mum on the farm and visit Dad who is in hospital.  This post is probably more about being grateful rather than happy, but I don't think you can separate the two.

1.  I'm grateful to have the means and the time to visit and stay with my Mum on the farm and visit my very unwell Dad.

2.  Making these goodies during the week made me very grateful that I have access and means to buy ingredients to make them.

Boiled fruit cakes and soft ginger biscuits.

 3.  Finding this cute and a bit over the top collar for Stripey.  Who says male cats can't wear a bit of bling?!  :)  (I'll let you in on a little secret, it was the only cat collar in the grocery store.)

4.   Sketching this tractor to put on my Dad's birthday card.  He turns 85 on the 26th of April so I'll be home for his birthday.  :)

Materials used:  water colour paper, black fine line pen and water colour pencils.

Wishing you all many happy moments in the week ahead.

:: 52 weeks of happy 15/52

Another week has passed and time to share four happy moments, a wonderful idea from Little Birdie

1.  Sitting outside in my PJ's in the warmth and cuddling Stripey.

2.  Buying some lovely yarn to make into a vest.  The light is terrible in my house now the days are shorter, so lousy photo.  Sorry.

3.  Helping hubby make green tomato relish.  One kilo of tomatoes yielded two and a bit jars of relish.  One in the fridge already being demolished.  YUM!

4.  Having breakfast out with good friends.  My Bircher muesli with yogurt, rhubarb jam and pistachios was delicious.

Wishing you all many happy moments this week.

:: 52 weeks of happy 14/52 ::

I've had many happy moments this week, here are four of them.

1.  The happiest moments this week were hearing that my Dad was able to leave hospital for some visits to the farm for a few hours at a time and also go out for a coffee at a local town cafe.  Thanks to my sister who is currently visiting Dad and Mum in Western Australia.

2.  Giving Genevieve a driving lesson, just a small way to help her become independent.

Photo taken on my phone.  I've entered the 21st century.

3.  Going on a picnic with my nephew and niece to Birdlands Reserve.  (A more informative post about our picnic and Birdsland Reserve to follow.)

4.  Discovering the first issue of this lovely magazine, filled with things that I love.

Wishing you many happy moments this week.

:: 52 weeks of happy, 12/52 ::

Here are four of many happy moments this week.

1.  Creating a little terraced rock garden on a sloping site in the garden, hopefully to improve water run off.

2.  Receiving notification from the library that the next two books in this series were ready for me to pick up.

 3.  Op shopping for scarves for my next controversial sewing project.  :)

4.  Grateful for lamps and candles when the power goes off for over 12 hours.  Happy that for one evening there was no computer of t.v. on.  It was so beautifully quiet and peaceful.

The little lamp on the far left with the red glass chimney I've had since I was a young teen.  So glad I kept it.

Wishing you all many happy moments this week.

:: 52 weeks of happy, 11/52 ::

Here are four of many happy moments from this week.  No. 1 is by far the happiest moments I've had during the week.

1.  Talking to my Dad on the phone while he is in hospital and despite the fact that he is feeling miserable, we've had lovely chats and I've made him laugh.  Love you Dad!!  And talking to you too Mum!

2.  Working with hubby outside and bundling up our garden waste to be taken away by the council green waste collection.  The front garden is looking so much better now.

3.  Admiring the drystone wall along the driveway hubby has just finished making.  The second photo shows how he made it blend in with the wall that was already there.

4.  Discovering a new author and knowing I have another 24 books in the series to read.  Although this book was first published in 1985 and a little dated when it comes to things like technology, the storyline is excellent, a very good read.

5.  Yes an extra happy moment, we had 18ml of rain overnight.  The garden is happy and so am I.

Hello and welcome to my two new followers.

:: 52 weeks of happy, 10/52 ::

Here are four of my happy moments this week.

1.  Going op shopping on a stinking hot afternoon for fabrics for a special project.  A combination of off-cuts, garments and doilies were found.  The next day they were cut to size and washed, all ready to start sewing.  Project underway.

2.  Admiring the gorgeous colour of the last of these summer Petunias.

3.  Happy that this Fuchsia which has been transplanted five times over the years is still surviving and going to flower.  The most recent transplant was last week.

4.  No photo for this one.  Full of admiration and respect for daughter No. 2 who has/had the maturity and wisdom to handle a potentially difficult situation with dignity and grace.

Wishing you many happy moments this week.

4.  Learning how to crochet African flower hexagons and joining as you go courtesy heidibearscreative.blogspot.com

Four happy moments from this week, actually five.

1.  Seeing hubby's hand made French clock every time I walk into this room.

2.  Picking more Hydrangeas, these blossoms are from the same bush.

3.  Admiring the contrast between the blue, blue summer sky and the leaves of the Golden Elm in my neighbour's garden.

3.  Looking at my garden while sitting in the family room.

:: 52 weeks of happy, 2/52 ::

This week there were many things that made me happy, these are my favourite four.

1.  Gardening in the cool of the evening, about 7p.m.

2.  Watching this Eastern Spinebill feeding on nectar in the Chinese Lantern at the side of the house.  I noticed him while I was gardening the same evening the above photo was taken.

3.  Marveling at the rich blue of these Hydrangeas picked from the front garden.

4.  Rediscovering, making and eating Waldorf Salad.  Mine is made with pecans instead of walnuts.  Delicious with our barbecue tea tonight spent with our niece and her fiancee.

Wishing you many happy moments in the week ahead.
