Clothes, crochet and collywobbles

Hello, how are you?  Now that I'm home I feel like I'm at a loose end not knowing what to do or where to start.  So rather than rush around and do all those things I should be doing, I'm luxuriating in going with the flow.  Some of that flow involved cleaning out my wardrobe yesterday, a totally unplanned activity.
My wardrobe and I have a love/hate relationship, but we came to an understanding and I managed to clear out some things which shouldn't be in there any more.  My mantra as I was putting things in bags for the op shop was, "Let it go Anne, let it go."   The process also involved going through a storage box that holds mementos and memorabilia.  There were only a few things in their that warranted depositing in the rubbish, but oh what lovely time I had going through special drawings by the girls and one particular little note I saved from Genevieve which said, "der tooth ferry, I swulowd my secund tooth can I plese hav sum muny".  How cute it that?!  I also had fun looking through all the cards hubby has given me over the years and tied them up in a big ribbon.

I've decided to revisit some granny squares I started making last year with the idea to join them and make a throw for the bed.  Lots of teeny tiny squares seems like a lot of work so I'm making some bigger grannies as well.

The quality of this photo is awful, my apologies.  I think I must have at least 10 different green balls of yarn, so I'm having fun working out which combinations to use.

Hubby is still on leave so we are having quiet but busy days at home.  Yesterday he installed a front wire security door so now when we have hot weather we can get some more fresh air in the house.  Genevieve is having a quiet day today.  Poor darling has the collywobbles and feeling decidedly unwell.  I must say it is so much easier having older kids when they are sick.  They don't need you in quite the same way as when they are little.

Oatmeal porridge with a dash of honey, grated apple left to go brown, crackers with vegemite and water are my remedies for the collywobbles.  Comfy sofas with cozy throws and pretty cushions all help to make a recuperating environment a little more bearable.  A good book if you can read through a bad headache, temperature and aches and pains helps too.  Or how about the film Milo and Otis, an old favourite from when the girls were kids which I bought them for Christmas this year just for fun.

What ever your day brings, I hope it's a good one.

Hope Genevieve is feeling better now - the sofa/comfort food thing always seems to work in this house too.

  2. Happy New Year, Anne!
You are very brave tackling the wardrobe! I am a terrible hoarder of clothes, well everything really! But I've decided 2012 is the year I'm going to shake everything up and clear it out! But I haven't started yet...
So sorry Genevieve is poorly. Hope shes feeling better soon. Take care, Sue xxx

  3. Anne your throw is looking lovely already, love pink, green and red.......

Hope Genevieve is feeling better ASAP, fortunately it's a cooler day, perfect for snuggling dow on the couch. Not sure about the grated brown apple, haven't heard that one before, but hey, if it works, that's great. I love toast and vegemite that's my pick me up after I've been unwell.

Well done on the clean out too, funny thing is I have just loaded up my car with the result of my de cluttering. Micorowave dishes, books, magazines and some clothes. Slowly but surely I'll work my way through cupboards and drawers.

Enjoy your Friday whatever it brings, at least the weather should be good.

  7. It's very difficult sorting through things with a view to de-cluttering especially when those things hold many memories. I must admit to looking through and then putting back. Some day I will have to 'let go' but not yet. Hope the invalid makes a rapid recovery.
    Love from Mum
