Colour

There's something about colour, I've just got to have it in my life.  Fortunately there is a lot of colour in the garden at the moment.

I've finished the first of my boho style curtains for the studio made from scarfs today.  The colours are actually much brighter than shown in the photo.

I hope there is colour in your world to brighten your day.

Enjoying patterns and colour

Last week when I was coming out of the library, I saw these free postcards and brought a few of them home with me.  I'm not sure what I will do with them yet, but do like how they look together.

While on the subject of postcards, a couple of months ago I participated in a postcard swap.  Here is a selection of those I received which I've put together because I like the way the colours and patterns go together.

I'm quite facinated by the colours and patterns in nature which makes going for walks rather fun.  Am I the only one who does this?

On a not so pleasant note, I had to take Stripey to the vet today as he is suffering a rather nasty pussycat flu.  Poor kitty is sneezy, snuffling, has watery eyes and having tummy troubles too.  I hope his medicine has him feeling better soon.

I hope you are all having a great weekend,

A dress and a tablecloth

Hello there.   I hope you've had a lovely day with nice things happening.  Things like sitting down for a few quiet moments with a latte or a cup of tea, a good book or crochet hook and some wool.  These would be very nice happenings in my opinion.  I've had the latte today but not the good book or crochet yet.  Instead I went out to do pleasurable things like shop for a birthday present for a family member, a hair appointment and dress shopping.  I can say the dress shopping was pleasurable because I FOUND a dress to wear to the ballet.  Here it is.

I was hoping for colour but this dress was in a style that was flattering.  After the success of the dress purchase I had just enough time to duck into the op shop and found this bright and colourful tablecloth for $3.00.

There is one little worn spot, hardly noticeable and a few marks which I'm sure spot laundering will remove.  I love the pattern and colours.

Have a lovely evening everyone.  See you tomorrow.

Add a little colour

It's been grey, rainy and dull around here (it is winter), so it's time to inject a little more colour and warmth into life.  How about this bright and cheerful iron board cover found at the local supermarket?  Almost makes me look forward to ironing!

A bright stripey bag to house some of my crochet wool.

Two spotty crazy mugs for a lovely warming cuppa!

Bright camelias on a flowery tray and yummy choc coated tiny teddies.  Mmmmm.....chocolate, very warming.

Pretty coloured wool and a latte.

Look at these gorgeous primulas, so pretty to look at when it's raining outside.

I hope your days are filled with colour and warmth.

Books on my coffee table

One of the many things that make me happy is to be surrounded by books.  I'm an avid user of the local library and trundle down there frequently.  Belonging to the local library gives me access to oodles of books from many other libraries as well and since I made this discovery, I've been in book heaven.  I can sit up in bed, electric blankie on, laptop on lap and trawl library websites to my heart's content.

I borrow books on crafts, house decorating, gardening, cooking, sewing and I especially love them if they have beautiful photos that inspire me.  Last week I just happened to pass another library close by and couldn't resist the urge to take a quick peek and see if anything caught my eye.  Browsing in the craft section, I stumbled across a brand new book "Homemade - Gorgeous things to make with love" by Ros Badger and Elspeth Thompson.

It's so new I don't think anyone has borrowed it yet and it's just my sort of book filled with how to make or restore things in a gorgeous country, homely, comforting kind of way.
Looking at books is such a relaxing thing to do especially if you have a hot cup of tea or coffee nearby to make it into a proper break not just a quick sit down.  I think I might be having rather a lot of tea/coffee breaks in the next week as I have thirteen gorgeous books on the coffee table to look through and be inspired by.

Lucy at Attic24 has inspired me immensely in so many ways from learning to crochet to injecting colour into my life.  I was introduced to a fabulous book (via Lucy's blog), I just had to borrow from the library, "Creating Vintage Style" by Lucinda Ganderton.  Also on the coffee table are books on crocheting and a gorgeous book by Tricia Guild "Private View"

with these sumptuous images.  Love the colours!!!  I hope you find time in your week to take a break with a hot drink and some beautiful books.  Au revoir, Anne
