Ezy carve butterfly stamp

As the jungle continued to grow today, a butterfly emerged from it's cocoon.

  The idea.

The stamp.   A bit rough around the edges, but skills improving.

The images.

Instead of gardening today I carved a butterfly stamp, gave Miss C. a driving lesson on the way to her work and stopped in at Spotlight on the way home to purchase something for a very important sewing project that will help the environment....

More to come tomorrow.

Seashells and buttons

Miss G. is in the process of slowly cleaning out her bedroom and she found a bag of shells from a holiday long past.  Inside the bag were shells with little holes in them that she had obviously kept with the idea of stringing them into a necklace or two.  She asked me if I would like to use them for anything and of course I said yes with a creative project in mind.

I needed some fishing line to start my project and as hubbie could only find yellow, that's what I used.

About a third of the way through stringing shells, I decided that shells by themselves were a bit boring, so I raided my button stash.

This is the end result.

Unfortunately my photos didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped so it's a bit hard to see the seashell/button thingy hanging in my garden room.  Please excuse the mess through the garage window, hubbie is have a fantastic time cleaning out years worth of junk.  My garden room needs a spring clean too.

I had a very pleasant half hour making a simple decorative item for my garden room.  I hope all the creative people in blog land find a few minutes for creativity this weekend.  Have a good one.

First granny square attempt

This is my first attempt at crocheting basic granny squares using bits and pieces of wool I found in the cupboard. The wool is acrylic which I find a bit scratchy on the hook (it's very cheap wool) but o.k. for a beginners project. These are the colours in Miss C's bedroom and I was thinking of joining the squares together to make a throw. What do you think? Does anyone have any suggestions about the joining colour?  (Sorry about the quality of this photo, I'm still learning).

This is my second attempt using Lucy's summer garden granny square pattern which I love.  I could happily crochet all day long in these different pinks, blues and greens.  These squares plus a few more (well more than a few), will hopefully turn into a throw for my bedroom one of these days.

Learning to crochet is such FUN!!
