Saturday baking

While making apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert this evening,  I was admiring the red colour of the fruit so much I just had to take a photo.

Of course I had to take a photo of the finished product and I'm happy to report it was delicious with a dollop cream.  There is enough left over for tomorrow night too.  :)

I also made some chocolate chip biccies today to keep the family happy.  When I was putting them away into an air tight plastic container, I realised just how boring plastic is.  A pretty tin would be so much nicer.  If only they were air tight.

Do you a tin or a plastic container to store your yummies in?

I'm off to see the new "Pirates" movie with my daughters tomorrow.  We are all in the mood for a bit of light hearted nonsense.

Enjoy your Sunday,

Anne  xx

  1. Yum, your crumble looks gorgeous - is that almonds in the topping?

I have a raspberry and chocolate crumble cake cooling as I type, kettle is just boiled so am going to have a cuppa.

Cath Kidston have some plastic containers with flowery lids but they are still nowhere near as pretty as a proper cake tin....

    Have a lovely weekend,

  2. mmmm rhubarb and strawberry anything is delicious!!!! We do plastic or glass with rubber lids, otherwise a crunchy cookie will be very soft in no time flat with all the humidity.

  3. Mmm, that crumble looks delicious! I've never had apple and rhubarb together; I'll have to give it a try.
I'm hoping to have lots of rhubarb next year because I got a plant from the car boot sale last week.

  4. I put my bickies in a tin - but just like my Grandma used to do, I close a piece of baking paper (or wax paper) between the lid and the tin
and that keeps them nice and fresh.

Your crumble looks delicious. I'm only a recent convert to rhubarb after eating a dessert at the Royal Mail in Dunkeld - Rhubarb with liquorice and almonds - it was heavenly.

  5. Yummy! Apple and rhubarb crumble looks delicious! I've never had apple and rhubarb together too.

I use a plastic container to store cookies, but Freeffaling gives me a good idea, using baking paper (or wax paper) between the lid and the tin.

You all have a nice Sunday.

  6. I was given some nice Emma Bridgwater tins, which seem to be airtight enough. Nothing lasts that long enough in this house to go off, though!

  7. Those cookies look yummy! I can't believe that they would last long in whatever container you store them in. I store in glass or plastic. I'm still getting through the apples from last year. Lots of pies being made.

  9. Hi Anne,
I reformulate the current post, and add another sculptures of others birds and animals. I think that now the post is better.
    Have a nice week ahead!
