Fun with fabric scraps

Grab a pile of fabric offcuts.

These are curtain fabric remnants.
Wait for creative mojo to strike (last Saturday night), and play around with a design.
Very basic idea.
Cut out fabric and see what happens.

Sew it up, experiment a little (I've never tried this before).  Add a few extra details, ahem, buttons to cover where I accidentally snipped the fabric and some highlights on the feathers.

I think I have a  peacock  panel which I will make into a cushion cover.  Just have to work out how to add material to the sides and mitre the corners for a neat look.  My apologies for the colour quality of the photos.  I just can't seem to get it right.

  1. Anne, your peacock looks wonderful..........great idea.

I could have whole flock of polka dot peacocks with all the fabric scraps I have saved.

Love the scraps used for the tail feathers, very effective.
Pop over to Suburban Jubilee on my blog, Tanya has a link to a mitred corner tute. I haven't checked it out yet, but am sure it would be of help.

  2. I love that!! Really fab!! I enjoy doing fabric "collages" too.

As for the buttons covering a snip, don't forget there is no such thing as a mistake, just an opportunity for embellishment!!

Thanks for the encouragement re: painting - our local village hall does classes, am going to investigate.

  7. Anne, you are very clever to make the peacock. I love the colours and the whirly tail feathers and the little plumes on his head. He will make a fine cushion:)

  8. I love seeing the creative process, as well as the finished panel. Your experimenting paid off. Doing a bit of catch up. Just got to say that your flower painting is fabulous. I hope you hang it on the wall with pride.

  9. Very pretty! I've never tried anything like that with scraps. I just might have to give it a try. :)
