The demise of Google Friend Connect

I am not happy about the demise of Google Friend Connect which seems to me to be a very easy way to follow other blogs and have other bloggers follow me.  However as it is disappearing at the end of the month I am trying to change to another system so my wonderful followers can do just that, follow me.

I'm not savvy when it comes to these sorts of things and have decided to give Linky Followers a trial run and I would appreciate very much if you wish to continue following my blog to click on the Linky badge on the right hand side of my blog page just under my profile.  If you have any trouble at all, please email me and I will try and work something else out.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just a big mess.  I looked into Google plus etc. and from what I could see, it was going to affect things in my Picassa account I wanted left alone, it was also going to do other things I did not want to be a part of.

If I am currently following anyone on Google Friend Connect and you have changed the way I can follow you after March and I've managed to miss your post, please let me know.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  1. I know just what you mean, and I shudder at having to sort out anything technical. I've signed up to bloglovin and it seems to be easy enough to follow :) xx

  2. I've changed to Bloglovin as Google Reader is being pulled. Just another way for your followers to find you.

Non-Bloggers have been without Google friend Connect for a while now and I know I missed it when the icons of smiling people all left my blog :(

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

  3. it's a real pain isn't it. I've just added Bloglovin to my blog so people can follow me via that. really don't understand why GFC is going and like you I don't want to do Google+

  4. Are you sure GFC is going? I heard it was staying for anyone with a Blogger blog. I've been trying to look it up and can't find anything that says it's going.

  5. I've also done a fair bit of investigation and it seems that for blogs already using GFC it will be remaining for quite a while yet, which is a relief, I don't see the need for it to go but hey, what do I know! It does not bother me that google reader is going as I don't use that anyway. I already follow blogs through bloglovin and I really need to add the 'follow me' to my side bar. I'm also on Google plus but only because you get a HUGE amount of storage space for photos which are posted on blogs. Suzy x
