Sunday

This past Sunday Charlotte and I went to the Knox Festival, a community arts festival which is held every year.  I'm not one for going to big events with crowds of people but there was one big draw card at the festival this year.  I didn't want the to miss the opportunity of seeing the amazing talent of Richard Perso who just happens to be the son of Claire from Sweet Birdy Love.  Claire very kindly let me know that Richard would be performing and Charlotte and I spent a very enjoyable time listening to his unique music and watching him perform.

My  apologies for the poor quality photos, I couldn't get a good photo without glare.  Check out all that musical equipment, three didgeridoos, four guitars, acoustic and electric, a drum beat for the left foot and a tambourine for the right.  I don't know how he plays didgeridoo at the same time as guitar and then adds the drum beat and tambourine to that.  Oh then there is his voice.  He has one hell of a voice, lovely and gravelly which suits the style of music he performs to perfection.   On Sunday Richard performed some his own material and some covers too.  One particular bluesy song had an older lady with a walker getting on down to boogie.
You can hear one of Richard's own compositions  performed on Sunday at this link.  Thank you Richard for sharing your musical talent with us, we had a ball.

As Charlotte and I were listening to the music we indulged in some of these Dutch pancakes called poffertjes.  They were delicious.

As we headed back to our car we passed various interesting sights such as these people all dressed up.  I have no idea what they were doing .

This lady is a coach for an organisation that teaches circus acts to kids.

At this point I thought she was about to expose her boobs to the whole world.  Thankfully it didn't happen.

Thanks Claire for telling me about Richard's gig.  I feel privileged to have seen him perform live and hope I might get to see him again some time.

  1. Gosh he sounds very talented and so young too!

Haf to laugh at the boobs comment, I'm sure some onlookers were hoping for a 'wardrobe malfunction'!

  3. Hey Anne, so glad you and Charlotte enjoyed Rich's performance. I still have to laugh, that we've been blog buddies for so long, yet you meet Chris and Rich first!!

What a variety of things they have at the festival a great event and fortunately it wasn't rained out.

I've never tried Poffertjes but they always look mouth wateringly delish. I think I'm worried that if I try them once I won't be able to resist them in the future.

Glad the trapeze lady didn't do a Janet Jackson or worse........

Blue skies here this morning, it's coffee in town and a quick catchup with friends and then I have to dust off the whipper snipper and do battle. Hope you've finally got some sunny days down there.

  6. So glad you got to see a performer you like very much. I'm not one for festivals either. I did take Jess to the Isle of Wight festival when she was younger but now she goes with friends.
